About the Profession

Surgical technologists primarily work in operating rooms of general medical and surgical hospitals. However, they are also needed in doctor’s offices, outpatient centers and other health care centers. Our goal is to train surgical technologists who can carry on our Christian mission of healing no matter where they go after graduation. General Info

The majority of surgical technologists (STs) in the United States work in operating rooms at surgical and medical centers. But STs are also needed in a variety of other health care facilities.

Common places of employment for STs include:

  • Home health care services

Salaries and Stats

Surgical Technologists work in a variety of medical settings and can expect to make between $29,700 and $60,240 a year, according to the United States Bureau of Labor. How many years of experience you have, where you live and what kind of facility you work for all factor in to how much you can earn as a surgical technologist.

Surgical technology is a growing field. In 2012, 98,500 people were employed as surgical technologists and employment is projected to increase more than 30% from 2012 to 2022.
