Friday the 13th seems somewhat incongruous with the holiday season, which is upon us.
There are only a few issues to cover this week, and this is a relatively short note. We are anticipating a major update to MEDITECH in the near future. The MEDITECH and Education teams are evaluating this update and how we are going to communicate the enhancements and educate you on the changes once they are available in our system.
There will likely be more than one email coming out each week in the short term to communicate these enhancements to the MEDITECH EHR. We are evaluating how to best disseminate the changes in MEDITECH that we hope to see soon.
Over the past couple of weeks you may have noticed that there are more "purple people" around in our patient care areas and the physician lounges. CH and SJH have listened to your concerns and have brought in outside resources to provide more "live" support to increase our ability to respond to your needs for support and answer your questions.
These people are here to help you. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a session with one of them or with one of the Physician Liaisons, please call 725-4189 to arrange this. Like many of us, they will be taking the Christmas and New Year's weeks off to be with their families. They are available now and the week of December 16th. They will return the week of January 6th.
There have been appropriate concerns raised that when a physician enters his/her note into the Assessment/Plan that it is overwritten by the next provider who enters information for the same problem. This has been changed so that only your own entries into Assessment/Plan will be carried into your next note.
Incomplete Records (ICRs)
When you are in the Desktop view, you may have noticed that there are new fields appearing. This is a reminder that we have incomplete records to complete and indicates that there are orders or documents that require our signature. Below is a screenshot that shows this:
The incomplete records are prioritized by the patient and the age of the ICR. There are a number of options from here, you can click on any of the orders and sign them, or select the "Sign" button in the right lower corner to work through the outstanding signatures.
Specialty Specific Consultations
As you are probably aware, there are specialty specific Progress Notes. The MEDITECH team is in the process of implementing specialty specific Consult notes. These will be available over the next few weeks and will be able to be accessed through the "Documents" button. Search for your specialty (e.g., Infectious Diseases, General Surgery) and the Consult note for your specialty will appear. This will be most useful when we decide to enter our consultation notes directly into the MEDITECH EHR rather than by dictation.
As always, if you have any questions or concern, please feel free to contact me at 725-0265.
Until next week,
