Covenant Health System and Second Baptist Church to Host “New and Expectant Parents Brunch”

(LUBBOCK) – Babies do not come with instruction manuals, but new and expectant parents have an opportunity to receive tips and guidance from leading experts in the region at the “New and Expectant Parents Brunch” on Saturday, Oct. 1.  The free event hosted by Second Baptist Church will feature an array of Covenant experts providing tips on how to handle your pregnancy and newborn child.

The brunch will be held at Second Baptist Church located at 6109 Chicago Ave. from 9 a.m. to noon.

Dr. , a pediatrician with Covenant Medical Group, will serve as the event’s keynote speaker.  She will discuss “What Pediatricians Wish Every Parent Knew.”  Find out what you should really know before your bundle of joy arrives.

Attendees will have the opportunity to choose from the following breakout sessions:

  • “Breastfeeding Basics: How to Get Off to a Good Start”Nancy Townley, R.N., Parent Education Department at Covenant Women’s and Children’s
  • “Safety Prevention: Shaken Baby, SIDS, Car Safety Seat”Marguerite Fallon, D.N.P., R.N., director of nursing at Covenant Women’s and Children’
  • “What to Expect When You Get Home from the Hospital”Rebecca Meador, R.N., certified childbirth educator, Parent Education Department at Covenant Women’s and Children’s
  • “What to Expect When You are Expecting”Karen Lewis, R.N., certified childbirth educator, Parent Education Department at Covenant Women’s and Children’s
  • “Children are a Gift!*?*!Jim Powell, B.S., MDiv, former pediatric chaplain at Covenant Children’s Hospital, private counselor
