(LUBBOCK)–Each year more and more people are choosing to quit smoking according to recent research funded by the National Institutes of Health. If you are ready to join in on the trend, you can learn how to quit smoking at the October Heart Matters free seminar hosted by Covenant Health.
The presentation titled “Smoking Cessation: How About Today?” will be from 9-10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 28 at the Knipling Education Conference Center.
Dr. Ray Smith, a family practitioner for Covenant Medical Group, will be the guest speaker at this month’s seminar. Dr. Smith will focus on the dangers of smoking and the effects of breathing in secondhand smoke, as well as the advantages of quitting smoking at any age.
The presentation will also include information about the complications of continued smoking. Studies suggest smoking causes cancer, breathing problems, heart attacks and stroke. Secondhand smoke has been linked to asthma and breathing problems.
