Get tips on how to prevent a stroke at the May Heart Matters free seminar hosted by Covenant Health. The “Stroke Prevention: Choices and Changes” presentation will be from 9 – 10 a.m. on Friday, May 27 at the Knipling Education Conference Center.
Join Tim Smith, R.N., E.M.T.-P., stroke coordinator at Covenant Health, as he discusses the signs and symptoms of a stroke as well as ways to prevent a stroke from happening. He will also discuss risk factors that increase the possibility of having a stroke.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States. A stoke occurs when a clot blocks blood flow to the brain or when a blood vessel in the brain bursts. Some risk factors, such as genetics, age and gender can not be controlled but making healthy lifestyle choices can help reduce the risk of having a stroke.
Taking steps to reduce the risk of developing heart disease or having a stroke are essential in living a longer, healthier life.
