Covenant Medical Center Epilepsy Monitoring Unit Patients to Benefit from Neuroscience Blanket Grant

(LUBBOCK) – Patients being treated in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) at Covenant Medical Center will benefit from a grant provided by The Junior League of Lubbock.

The neuroscience blanket grant provided $682.99 to purchase additional blanket material to make epilepsy/neuroscience prayer blankets. The blankets are handed out to EMU patients and are used to provide security and warmth to patients during their stay. The Neuroscience Patient and Staff Committee began making the blankets for the patients in 2009. The EMU monitoring techs make sure patients receive a blanket as they are admitted into the unit. Each blanket includes a tag that says, “This blanket has been blessed to cover you in God’s warmth and hope. May it give you comfort.”Approximately 18 blankets are distributed each month to patients. The EMU is located on the fifth floor of the Heart Center building.Special thanks to The Junior League of Lubbock Inc., an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
