If you are looking for a way to serve your community and care for the sick, Hospice of Lubbock is in need of direct patient volunteers. To be certified as a direct patient volunteer, 16 hours of training must be completed.
Training will be Friday, March 30 from 6 – 10 p.m., Saturday, March 31 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 1 from 1 – 5 p.m. All classes will be held at the Hospice of Lubbock Conference Room, 3702 21st Street (located at the northwest corner of 21st Street and Louisville in the Louisville Place Building).
The training, offered by Hospice of Lubbock staff, prepares volunteers on how to share this special end-of-life time with Hospice of Lubbock patients and families.
Anyone interested in this special and worthwhile opportunity to serve should call Hospice of Lubbock Volunteer Services Coordinator, Cheryl Presley, at 795-2751.
"In order to provide the best service possible, we also need more bilingual direct patient volunteers," Presley said.
Hospice of Lubbock volunteers provide support and care for persons in the last phases of their life in order for them to live as fully and comfortably as possible. Volunteers are also vital to the support and care of family members and friends who serve as caregivers for terminally ill patients.
Hospice of Lubbock is the region's only nonprofit adult and pediatric hospice since 1987.
