World-Renowned Cardiac Surgeon to Speak at Covenant Health


Covenant Health is pleased to announce that Dr. Charles D. Fraser, Jr., a world-renowned cardiac surgeon, will speak at two special events on Thursday, April 18 and Friday, April 19. Dr. Fraser is surgeon-in-chief, chief of congenital heart surgery and cardiac surgeon-in-charge at Texas Children's Hospital.

Dr. Fraser has a joint clinical appointment at the Texas Heart Institute where he also serves as director of the Adult Congenital Heart Surgery Program. As the chief of the Division of Congenital Heart Surgery at Baylor and co-director of the Texas Children's Heart Center, Dr. Fraser has worked to refine surgical treatment of small babies, children and adults with congenital heart disease.

In his role of surgeon-in-chief at Texas Children's Hospital, Dr. Fraser oversees the entire surgical department. This includes more than 100 full-time surgeons as well as anesthesiology faculty. Dr. Fraser strives to develop programs that offer children in need of surgery the best quality outcome, promote research and to educate tomorrow's leaders in children's subspecialty surgery.

Dr. Fraser will take the stage with Covenant Health's Dr. Robert Salem and Dr. James Harrell at the "Heart 2 Heart" dinner Thursday, April 18. Cocktails will be served starting at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. at the Overton Hotel. Tickets for the dinner must be purchased by April 5.

Then on Friday, April 19, Dr. Fraser will present at the annual Covenant Heart & Vascular Institute Michael E. DeBakey Distinguished Lectureship Series. The luncheon will be held from 11:45 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Knipling Education Conference Center (21st Street and Louisville Avenue, west Parking Garage, sixth floor).
