Covenant Health System’s Center for Outpatient Diabetes Education* is dedicated to teaching people in our region how to manage diabetes and live active, healthy lives. By providing self-management training and motivation, the Center helps people with diabetes reduce their risks of developing serious long-term health complications.
At the Center, each patient becomes part of a Diabetes Management Team that includes their physician, nurse educators and a dietitian.
Patients participate in “Let’s Do Diabetes Together,” a recognized program of the American Diabetes Association based on the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Training. Through one-on-one and group instruction, patients get the tools they need to manage their diabetes. Classes are offered monthly and provide a thorough understanding of the disease’s progression and treatment options. Click here to see the 2008 Class Schedule.
To help patients learn from their peers as well as get the perspective of other people suffering from diabetes, free diabetes support groups are available in Lubbock and Plainview each month.
