Dr. Susan M. Haefner is a pediatric critical care physician whose clinical
expertise is in Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) and
postoperativecare of congenital heart defects, traumas and acute medical
illness. At the forefront of medical care with her techniques of ECMO and
continuous renal replacement therapy, Dr. Haefner’s mission in medicine is
to deliver state-of-the-art care for critically ill and injured children.
A researcher and member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and
American College of Chest Physicians, Dr. Haefner is a fellow of the American
Academy of Pediatrics and certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support and
Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Dr. Haefner completed a three-year residency in pediatrics at St. Joseph’s
Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Ariz., and a subsequent fellowship in
pediatric critical care medicine at the University of Michigan Medical Center
in Ann Arbor. Dr. Haefner is board-certified by the American Board of
Pediatrics and American Board of Pediatric Critical Care.
