Catherina A. Ronaghan is a general surgeon and surgical oncologist with Covenant Health System and Joe Arrington Canter and Research and Treatment Center (JACC). Currently, she serves as the Medical Director of the Arrington Comprehensive Breast Center. Dr. Ronaghan is also the primary investigator for the ABBI (Advanced Breast Biopsy Instrumentation) and national sentinel lymph node clinical trials completed at Joe Arrington Cancer Center. She is a principle investigator for the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group (ACOSOG). She is a co-investigator for the South Plains Oncology Consortium through Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and Joe Arrington Cancer Center.
She is currently a Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. Dr. Ronaghan is widely published and a frequent presenter in areas of surgery and oncology.
Dr. Ronaghan has been selected as a Texas Super Doctor by Texas Monthly Magazine for the last four years. Dr. Ronaghan was the recipient of the 2001 American Cancer Society Lubbock Silver Stirrup Physician Award. In addition, she was awarded the YWCA (Young Women Christian Association) Women of Excellence in Medicine Award in 1999. Dr. Ronaghan also received the 2005 Distinguished Alumni Award from TTU School of Medicine.
Dr. Ronaghan is board certified by the American Board of Surgery with added qualifications in Surgical Critical Care and is an active Fellow in the Society of Surgical Oncology. She serves on the Board of Directors for the American Cancer Society Texas Division, Breast Cancer Detection Committee and Colorectal Cancer Committee. Dr. Ronaghan is the medical advisor for the American Cancer Society, Texas Division, Inc., Reach to Recovery. She is currently the North Texas State Chair of the Cancer Liaison Physicians of the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Dr. Ronaghan is a member of the Texas Medical Association and is on the TMA's Physician Oncology Education Program Board and Speaker's Bureau.
Her current practice focuses on benign and malignant diseases of the breast, benign and malignant disease of the colon and rectum, soft tissue sarcomas, image guided breast biopsies, complex hernia repairs, thyroid and parathyroid disease, and minimally invasive general surgery.
