Cardiac Services

When it comes to heart health, only one word describes Covenant Health’s comprehensive services. “First.” For more than 40 years, Covenant has led the way in bringing our region the very best cardiac care.

  • In 1965, Covenant opened one of the first cardiac care units in Texas
  • In 1968, Covenant was the site of the first angiogram in the region
  • In 1970, the region’s first open-heart surgery was performed at Covenant
  • In 1991, Covenant performed the region’s first heart transplant
  • In 1995, the Covenant Heart & Vascular Institute became the first comprehensive heart care center devoted to digital cardiac imaging in the United States

That commitment to being first continues, in terms of technology, treatment, and in the minds and hearts of our community.

Covenant Heart & Vascular Institute is home to an expert team of medical professionals whose collective experience in heart care is second to none. Driven by Covenant’s unique mission of caring, they can be counted on to deliver cardiac care from the heart. At the Covenant Heart and Vascular Institute, our team of physicians include: Covenant Cardiology Associates, Covenant Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, and Covenant's affiliated cardiologists.

We are recognized for our responsiveness to patient needs, as well as our relationships with referring physicians. We offer a complete range of services to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and educate patients about cardiovascular diseases. Our team integrates cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, vascular medicine and vascular surgery to provide seamless, coordinated, comprehensive patient care.

Our commitment is readily proven in our Outreach Program. Our physicians and staff travel to the West Texas and Eastern New Mexico region providing cardiac clinics to the following sites: Clovis, Denver City, Levelland, Lovington, Lamesa, Midland, Plainview, Portales, Seminole, Colorado City and Snyder. In addition, our physicians provide Continuing Medical Education (CME) on leading medical treatments and technologies to medical staffs throughout the region.

Our dedication to the prevention of cardiovascular disease is evident in our clinical research initiatives. Our physicians participate in numerous industry-founded clinical trials of devices and treatment strategies designed to evaluate various new and promising therapies. Participation in these trials enables our patients to receive new therapies prior to their availability to the public.
