Chest Pain Center

At Covenant Health System, we have expanded our Emergency Services to include the region’s first Chest Pain Center. This special department ensures that people experiencing heart attack symptoms receive fast attention. Patients who arrive at the ER with no previous history of cardiac incidents are admitted to the Chest Pain Center, where they are evaluated and monitored for up to 23 hours by a cardiologist.

Symptoms indicating you could be having a heart attack and should seek emergency medical attention include:

  • Uncomfortable pressure, fullness, squeezing or pain in the center of the chest lasting more than a few minutes
  • Pain spreading to the shoulders, neck or arms—The pain may be mild to intense and could feel like pressure, tightness, burning or heavy weight. It may be located in the chest, upper abdomen, neck, jaw, or inside the arms or shoulders
  • Chest discomfort with lightheadedness, fainting, sweating, nausea or shortness of breath
  • Anxiety, nervousness and/or cold, sweaty skin
  • Paleness or pallor
  • Increased or irregular heart rate

The Chest Pain Center is just one more way Covenant is looking out for the hearts of West Texas and beyond. To contact the Chest Pain Center, call 806.725.4635.
