Covenant Health System and the Covenant Hospital Plainview Board of Directors are pleased to announce Alan King will become the new chief executive officer (CEO) of Covenant Hospital Plainview effective Nov. 23

As CEO for Covenant Hospital Plainview, King’s responsibilities will include overseeing the planning, administration, coordination and evaluation of the hospital and its services.

“Alan has a great track record of providing strong leadership and achieving significant growth at the hospitals he’s served. His 20-plus years of experience in the health care industry and his proven ability to improve patient, physician and employee satisfaction made him the obvious choice,” said Jim Houser, Covenant Health System’s interim CEO.  “Alan will bring great passion and commitment to his new role, benefiting the patients, physicians and staff at Plainview.”

King comes to Plainview from Parkersburg, W.V. where he served as the CEO of St. Joseph’s Hospital. Prior to working at St. Joseph’s Hospital, King was the CEO of Pampa Regional Medical Center in Pampa for four years.

Covenant Hospital Plainview went through a formal recruitment and interview process with participation from Covenant Health System executives, the Covenant Hospital Plainview Board of Directors and the Hale County Hospital Authority Board, as well as managers at the 100-bed hospital.

King received his Bachelor of Science in Technical Management and Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Denver Technical College.  He received his Master of Business Administration from Columbia Southern University.  King is board certified in health care management and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
