Junior Leagues’ Kids in the Kitchen is an association-wide initiative of The Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI) designed to help communities address the urgent issues surrounding childhood obesity and poor nutrition. The program was launched in 2006 by Junior Leagues in more than 225 communities.
Statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found 80 percent of children who were overweight at age 10 - 15 years were obese adults at age 25. The CDC also reports nearly one-third of children and adolescents in the United States are overweight or at risk of becoming overweight.
Parents can take the first step to stop that trend by bringing their children to the Kids in the Kitchen event.
