LUBBOCK - A newly formed partnership between Covenant Health System and the Larry King Cardiac Foundation will continue to bring excellent pediatric heart care to our patients in . To celebrate the occasion, Larry King will headline a dinner honoring O. Wayne Isom, M.D., Idalou native and renowned heart surgeon, on Saturday, Dec. 8.
“Dr. Isom performed life saving cardiac surgery on my father 20 years ago. It was from that event which created The Larry King Cardiac Foundation,” said Larry King, Jr. “We could think of no better way than to honor Dr. Isom by forming a partnership with the great team at Covenant Health System and the for Children.
“This partnership allows us to help West Texas and Eastern New Mexico pediatric patients who need pediatric heart surgery and have no where to turn for help. To think that these two men who met 20 years ago would not only lead to one saving another’s life but it also now has led to saving hundreds of lives as of today and more into the future.”
The Larry King Cardiac Foundation, a non-profit organization with an ambitious goal to ‘save a heart a day,’ through its own partnerships with Cordis Corporation, Medtronic Inc. and St. Jude Medical Inc. and grants from Edwards Lifesciences Corporation and Eli Lilly and Company, provides patients with critical cardiac devices and procedures free of charge to those in need.
