 Covenant Health System and Melinda Clark, President and CEO, are pleased to announce Brett Esrock as the new President of Lubbock Hospitals and Chief Operating Officer of CHS. Esrock will begin at Covenant on or before September 5, 2007. "Brett is a talented young man with extensive experience in leading hospital operations. In addition to his COO role, Brett is currently the Project Coordinator for a new hospital which allows him to give us that additional perspective" stated Melinda Clark.
In the role of President and COO, Esrock will assume responsibilities for all Covenant Lubbock hospitals, including Covenant Medical Center and Lakeside campuses, Covenant Children's Hospital, and Covenant Specialty Hospital. He will oversee daily hospital operations and will focus heavily on patient, employee and physician satisfaction.
Covenant went through both a formal recruitment process and formal interview process with participation by physicians, employee leadership team members and Covenant Board Members. Covenant Board Chairman Kevin McMahon said, "Brett brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and perspective to Covenant, and we are pleased he has decided to join our leadership team".
Current President and CEO Melinda Clark will oversee her responsibilities for the System, which includes Covenant Medical Group, Covenant SurgiCenter, all Covenant Lubbock Hospitals and Covenant affiliated health care providers in West Texas and New Mexico. Esrock is currently Executive Vice President, COO at St. Joseph Hospital of Kirkwood, an entity of SMM Healthcare System in St. Louis, Mo., one of the largest Catholic health systems in the nation. Esrock has been with SSM for 15 years. Additionally, his prior experience has been with two Fortune 500 companies.
Esrock received his bachelor of science degree in finance from Indiana University and his master's in business administration from St. Louis University. Esrock's wife is Lisa and they have two children Lauren, 16, and Nick, 12.
