Artifacts & Collections
Throughout the centennial celebrations, Covenant Health reached out to
the community and caregivers in search of historical items related to
our past. The artifacts were catalogued and displayed in cases that were
rotated monthly. Some of the items included old birth certificates with
the founding physician’s signatures, nursing uniforms from the 1920s,
nursing annuals from the 1940s through the 1970s, and vintage hospital
postcards. A few of the items can be viewed at the Historical Artifacts
of Covenant tab to the left.
One very special moment was the opening of the time capsule that had been
buried inside the walls of Memorial/Methodist Hospital since 1952. It
was a challenge to open the box, but once it was opened at the reveal
event, everyone in attendance was able to view the items up close. A quick-motion
video of the event can be seen at the Time Capsule Reveal Video tab.
At the end of 2018 the diverse collection was packed up and donated to
the Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library in Lubbock. When
the new hospital tower is completed, the items will be on a twice-yearly
rotational display in the lobby.
If you come across an item/artifact from any of the hospitals listed below,
we would be honored to add it to the Covenant Health collection. Please
call Covenant Health Foundation at (806) 725-6089 to discuss gifting your item.
