Covenant Health Names Top Employee Award Winners

Values in Action awards recognize people living out Covenant's mission.

Covenant Health yesterday (April 24) named eight employees for distinction in its four core value categories of service, dignity, excellence and justice. The hospital also recognized more than 270 employees who were nominated for those awards.

Recipients of the awards include:

  • Dignity – Sarah Cameron, R.N., charge nurse, Palliative Medicine, Covenant Medical Center (CMC); and Duane Armstrong, M.Ed., L.P.C., coordinator, Employee Assistance Program, Human Resources
  • Excellence – Regina Phariss, R.N., B.C.-P.R.N., nurse specialist, Nursing Administration, CMC; and Mark Martinez, health and wellness coordinator, Community Benefits, Plainview
  • Service – Chris Eledge, corporal, Security (CMC); and Elizabeth Abraham, senior chaplain, Hospice of Lubbock
  • Justice – Rachael Stehling, R.N., B.S.N., director, Case Management, CMC; and Laura Rampley, R.N., B.S.N., manager nursing, General Medicine, Plainview

"Our Values in Action award winners epitomize the caring Christ-like concern and empathy that our coworkers have for others and those who work at Covenant," said Richard Parks, president and CEO of Covenant Health. "We so much appreciate what they do, but more importantly, who they are and what they mean to their ministries."

The Values in Action Awards were established by the St. Joseph Health Board of Trustees to recognize and honor persons throughout the system for their outstanding contribution to the health care ministry and commitment to the four core values.
