Final Details of Voluntary Separation Incentive Program

(LUBBOCK) - Covenant Health announced the final details of its voluntary separation incentive program today. Of the 149 employees who expressed interest in the program, 96 employees received individual notification that their resignations were accepted by the health system.

The overwhelming majority of the resignations accepted were for administrative and support staff positions from across the system. A number of different factors were carefully considered in the application acceptance process including optimal departmental staffing levels. Those whose applications were not accepted remain employed with Covenant Health in their current capacities.

The program, patterned after other well-received voluntary resignation programs, is designed to help the system achieve greater efficiencies while providing interested employees an opportunity to make a career change.“We recognize that in every organization there are individuals who at some point in their career wish to pursue other opportunities. We are proud to be able to provide our employees with this innovative option, which is good for both the employee and Covenant,” said Rodney Cates, Vice President Human Resources, Covenant Health. “We are grateful for their consideration and most of all their service to our healing ministry.”

The voluntary separation incentive program was offered in advance of upcoming layoffs and Covenant’s introduction of its vision for the future, which will be unveiled later this fall.

Not all employees were eligible for the voluntary separation incentive program. Employees specifically not included were Covenant Specialty Hospital, AeroCare, SurgiCenter, Medical Center and Women’s and Children campus bedside nurses (LVN’s and RN’s) as well as employees at Covenant Hospital Plainview and Covenant Hospital Levelland.

Covenant will work individually with employees whose applications were accepted to determine their final date of employment. Each decision will be made based on the employee’s position and workload.
