A provider discussing options with a patient

Hobbs Hospital's clinical pharmacists are important members of the health care team who help ensure the safest and most effective use of medications. Our pharmacists and technicians are committed to safety and quality, and work closely with doctors and other caregivers to meet each patient's specific health care needs.

We've also implemented barcode medication administration, a process that serves as an extra layer of safety for medications. Your nurse will scan your ID bracelet and then scan the medication. The computer will make sure that the dosage you are getting is correct, that there are no interactions with other medications, and that the medicine you're being given is appropriate for your condition. Doctors, nurses, and pharmacists all still look at these things as well, but barcode medication administration further reduces the chance for a medication error.
