Don Caldwell is well-known in the Lubbock community primarily for his activities
in the music industry. He owns and operates a recording studio here in
town and until recently owned historic venue the Cactus Theatre, which
brings different regional acts to town as well as hosting up-and-coming
local artists.
Caldwell has suffered multiple heart attacks in 2010. After his second
heart attack, physicians at the Covenant Heart and Vascular Institute
performed a double bypass and his right lung collapsed. Caldwell credits
our cardiac team for saving his life and has undergone ongoing treatment
with us over the last six years including receiving a pacemaker. His story
was followed closely by the media back in 2010 and Caldwell remains visible
in the community. While he sold the Cactus Theatre earlier this year,
he still operates his recording studio and helps provide acts for the theatre.
