Waiting for Labor

If your pregnancy is free of complications, we encourage you to wait for labor to begin on its own. We support March of Dimes standard on waiting until 39 weeks for delivery.

Babies need 39 weeks to help develop their important organs, their brain, lungs, and liver. Waiting 39 weeks means your baby is less likely to have vision and hearing problems after birth. It also gives your baby more time to be born at a healthy weight and improves their ability to suck and swallow and stay awake long enough to eat once he is born.

Talk to your doctor about waiting for labor or at least waiting for 39 weeks. For more information visit, or
